PATERSON — When local entrepreneur Rodney Addison saw Uber and Lyft skyrocket into an $80 billion industry, a lightbulb went off in his mind.Addison noticed that the rideshare industry was largely built on the backs of higher prices for riders and sometimes low wages for drivers. Was there a way, he wondered, to offer the same service, but keep more of that money circulating in his hometown of Paterson?
Addison spent about two years reverse-engineering an early Uber prototype to create his own rideshare app. Last year, he officially launched the Pull-Up Rideshare to create what he hoped would be a more equitable business model.
